Jazz Composition Audition Requirements
Submit three or four original compositional scores, with cassette or CD recording if possible. In addition, applicants to the Jazz Composition major should submit a preliminary performance audition tape, following the Jazz Performance guidelines. After review, qualified applicants residing in North America (U.S., Canada, and Mexico) will be invited for an in-person interview/audition at NEC. Applicants residing outside North America will be interviewed by phone.
Scores submitted by applicants will be returned if accompanied by appropriate return packaging and postage. Applicants may pick up scores in person between July 1 and September 30. NEC will not be responsible for scores remaining in the Office of Admission after October 1.
