  Joseph Makholm ’82 M.M. is active as a composer, jazz pianist and trombonist, and teacher in Paris, where he has lived since graduating from NEC. Currently Professor of Composition and Arranging at the Bill Evans Piano Academy in Paris, he founded the Cap Jazz lecture-concert series, now in its fourth season. His published compositions include Three Impressions for Solo Piano and Three Reflections for Solo Piano, which was featured on the CD recording Double Dance by pianist Willis Delony. Joseph’s three-volume jazz teaching method, Jazz Tonic for piano is used in conservatories and music schools throughout Europe and the U.S. He recently published the first volumes of Jazzosphere, for clarinet/alto saxophone and piano. 8/21/08
  Mollie Glazer ’82 was named Executive Director of NCMC/Nantucket School of Music in July of 2007. The school, established in 1975, offers private lessons, ensemble experience and workshops for children and adults on Nantucket Island. 8/21/08
Jazz drummer George Schuller '82 has released Like Before, Somewhat After (Playscape), the second recording with his longstanding working band, Circle Wide, reinventing six of the group's favorite tracks from the Keith Jarrett quartet catalog (but without piano) along with two Schuller originals inspired by this material. Jazz Times calls it "a tribute album that exceeds its goals because it isn't satisfied with a simple tip of the hat." Circle Wide includes NEC faculty Jamey Haddad and Brad Shepik. George Shuller also performs on a new Gunther Schuller CD from Boston Modern Orchestra Project, along with other NEC musicians. 8/7/08
  Kimberly Parsons-Whitaker ’82 has begun her 8th year as Associate Director of Connecticut Main Street Center, an organization that focuses on economic and community development within the context of historic preservation. She is also on the music staff of Center Church in downtown Hartford, Conn. Having toured the US and Asia in opera and concert appearances, Kim continues her professional singing career with concerts and recitals throughout Connecticut. She also recently completed a tour of England. She and husband Bill Whitaker, currently bass trombonist for Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, live in West Hartford, Conn. with their 11 year-old daughter Daley, who is an aspiring cellist. 11/20/07

Pianist Veljko Glodic ’82 M.M. released a CD of music by J.S. Bach and C.P.E. Bach. Veljko now lives in Croatia. 7/3/07

  Lina Doo ’82 M.M. was a recipient of a Fulbright-Hays Scholarship for their seminar program in Argentina and Uruguay in the summer of 2006. She is currently an instructor at the Kapi’olani Community College, where she teaches Voice, College Chorus, Musical Theatre, Music in World Cultures, and Intro to Music Literature. Lina also recently complete music directing a production of Sweeney Todd at Army Community Theatre in Honolulu, Hawaii. 7/3/07
Regina Carter ’82 was a recipient of the MacArthur Grant in 2006. In addition, she has been busy touring across the globe, and has recently released a new album, I’ll Be Seeing You: A Sentimental Journey on Verve Records.  She has been voted top violinist for the last several years by jazz magazine critics and readers. Darryl Harper, a current student, joined Regina on tour in the summer of ’06 to perform material from I’ll Be Seeing You.   Stephen Rogers Radcliffe '82 has been appointed Music Director of the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras. His first concert with the flagship orchestra of the organization, the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra, occurred in October of 2006. Stephen is a Ph.D. fellow at Brandeis University and has served as Director of Orchestral and Operatic Activities at UMass; as Assistant Conductor of the Boston Lyric Opera and New York Symphony; and as music director of the New York Chamber Ensemble, which he founded. 7/3/07
