BequestsA bequest, or a gift made through your will, allows you to designate New England Conservatory as the recipient of a particular asset or of a share of your total estate. You may specify how you wish your gift to be used, and NEC welcomes the opportunity to consult with you to determine how your legacy can best support a particular area of need. Sample Language To create an unrestricted bequest to New England Conservatory: “I give, devise and bequeath to New England Conservatory, a nonprofit institution of higher education located in Boston, Massachusetts, (“the specific amount of ______” or “_____ % of my residual estate,”) for use in the area of greatest need as determined by the NEC Board of Trustees.” To specify a gift for a particular purpose: “I give, devise and bequeath to New England Conservatory, a nonprofit institution of higher education located in Boston, Massachusetts, (“the specific amount of ______” or “_____ % of my residual estate,”) for the purpose of establishing an endowed fund, income only to be used, to support (“a scholarship” or “a scholarship to assist a student studying (piano, voice, music theory, etc. or “improvement of facilities”). The fund will be named ‘The ___________ Endowed Fund.’ At the time this gift is received, if it is not possible for NEC to fulfill its stated purpose, I give the NEC Board of Trustees authority to apply the funds to an area of need that is as close to the original purpose of the fund as possible.” For More Information Marian Alper |
