Why do I give?
I love singers.
–Warren Jones '73, pianist
New England Conservatory is where I first learned what really makes me click as a pianist: working with singers. And it’s where Gladys Childs Miller ’30 taught me that to work with singers, I had to love singers!
Since my days at NEC, I’ve had the good fortune to perform with some of the greatest artists of our time, including Marilyn Horne, Samuel Ramey, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Stephanie Blythe, and Denyce Graves ’88 DP, at the Metropolitan Opera and around the world.
Singers need time and personal attention to perfect their craft—and they frequently must allow their voices to mature in order to finish their studies. As a result, they tend to be older than other students—and have more financial responsibilities.
Almost all music students need help to complete their education! I surely did. That’s why I support the NEC community through the Annual Fund.
