New England Conservatory
Thomas A. Dorsey
Gospel Music Award
Recipients

Since 1996, New England Conservatory has conferred the Thomas A Dorsey Gospel Music Award on individuals who have at least 10 years of experience in New England as local church musicians, composers, directors of their own group, workshop/presentation leaders relating to gospel music, and as gospel music educators. These awardees also meet the requirements of having recognizable accomplishments, affiliations with national or international music organizations, and a commitment to gospel music.

The NEC Gospel Planning board is proud and honored to present two important awards annually at the Thomas A. Dorsey Gospel Jubilee - the NEC Thomas A. Dorsey Gospel Music Award, and the Anna Bobbit Gardner/Coretta Scott King Lifetime Achievement Award - which confer faculty status to the recipient at the Thomas A. Dorsey Summer Gospel Institute. Recipients of these awards also become members of the NEC Gospel Planning Board and participate as NEC Millennium Choir Directors.
