Phyllis Curtin

Phyllis Curtin had an extraordinary career as a leading soprano at the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, La Scala, Vienna Staatsoper, and Teatro Colon. She is known for creating roles in several Carlisle Floyd operas, most notably Susannah, and performing in the American premieres of Benjamin Britten's Peter Grimes and War Requiem . More recently, she served as director of the Boston University School of the Arts and she continues as Artist-in-Residence and teacher at the Tanglewood Music Center.
