Saxophonist Ricky Ford began his career in the Ellington Orchestra, and as a member of the Charles Mingus group. He has made numerous recordings as a leader and with artists such as Gunther Schuller, George Russell, Ran Blake, and Steve Lacy, with whom he shares the common bond of having lived and worked abroad.
