NEC Overseer Marvin Gilmore has helped change the face of the Boston business community, as a cofounder of the state's first African American-owned bank and through his leadership of the Community Development Corporation of Boston. He has maintained his connection to music through his ownership of the Western Front, the Cambridge nightclub that has been called a "haven for jazz, reggae, and Latin music," and where Gilmore offers a weekly stage for NEC's student jazz ensembles. In 2004, the City of Cambridge named the Western Front's location "Marvin Gilmore Square" in his honor. More about Marvin Gilmore '51 DP
