Among the earliest of American composers to integrate both Eastern and Western influences in his music-- in particular the traditions of hisArmenian heritage, Alan Hovhaness produced hundreds of works, most of them full symphonies. His works were premiered by major orchestras, chamber ensembles, and in stage and dance productions.
