Popular jazz vocalist Luciana Souza continues to prove the depth of her range. She received a 2007 Grammy Award for "Album of the Year" with her work on Herbie Hancock's River: The Joni Letters, on which she sang Joni Mitchell's "Amelia." In 2003, she received a Grammy nomination as headliner for her Brazilian-inspired jazz vocal album, North and South. This was her second Grammy nomination in a row, following 2002’s Brazilian Duos. In 2000, she received headlines for her performance in the U.S. premiere with the BSO of Osvaldo Golijov’s La Pasion segun San Marcos, Golijov’s interpretation of St. Mark’s Gospel.
