Freshman Bachelor of Music and Undergraduate Diploma (B.M. and D.P.) ApplicantsEntering freshmen are expected to demonstrate an advanced level of accomplishment in performance with potential to learn and grow as musical artists. Graduation from an accredited secondary school (or its equivalent) is a prerequisite, with an expected minimum overall academic grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 (on a 4-point scale). Home-schooled applicants are required to submit a diploma from the GED. Freshman domestic applicants may submit recent standardized test score results from either the SAT (Code: 3659) or ACT (Code: 1872), but these scores are no longer required. No offer of admission will be considered until the Office of Admissions receives all required academic information. (Note: Applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit test results from the TOEFL. Please see International Applicants.) Applicants to the Undergraduate Diploma should demonstrate knowledge, repertoire, and experience comparable to that of B.M. applicants, but are expected to meet a higher performance standard. Although not an academic degree, graduation from an accredited secondary school or its equivalent is a prerequisite for admission. In rare cases this may be waived if other qualifications are sufficiently strong. Freshman applicants should request two (2) letters of recommendation to be included with the submitted materials. One letter should be from a current applied teacher addressing your musical work to date and the other from an academic, nonmusical instructor speaking of your writing and cognitive abilities. |
