NEC/Harvard Double Degree (AB/MM) ApplicantsThe Harvard/NEC program is a joint five-year program leading to a Bachelor of Arts (AB) at Harvard College and a Master of Music (MM) at New England Conservatory. The program is designed so that students spend their first three years pursuing the AB at Harvard while receiving studio instruction at NEC. During the fourth year, students complete their AB requirements while concurrently beginning the MM at NEC. In the fifth year, students are enrolled at NEC full time. Eligible high school students may apply to both institutions, following their normal admissions process. Performance applicants to the joint program will be expected to audition at NEC during the regular auditions period (Feb./Mar)-composition applicants to the joint program will be required to submit scores and recordings, but do not have to audition. In addition, Harvard undergraduates who are between the freshman and junior years may apply to the program. Admission to this program is very competitive - applicants must demonstrate the highest level of performance ability, so it is possible that an applicant can be admitted to both institutuions, but denied admission to the joint program. Normally, there are 5-6 students admitted each year. For more information, go to the NEC/Harvard Double Degree program page. Further information is available from the Department of Music at Harvard University or the Office of Admission at New England Conservatory. |
