New England Conservatory is one of seven participating schools in the Unified Application for Conservatory Admission. We strongly encourage you to use this online application at www.unifiedapps.org. Applications for Fall 2008 should be available in September. The deadline to submit an application for Fall 2008 enrollment is December 1, 2007.

By applying online you will also be able to electronically submit some of the supporting requirements needed to complete your application, including:

Other required materials must be submitted to the Office of Admission (see address below) under separate cover by December 1.* These include:

  • letters of recommendation (2 or 3, as required by your program)
  • preliminary audition recording, if required
  • official transcripts
  • standardized test scores (SAT/ACT scores are recommended for all undergraduate applicants but are not required)
  • any additional supporting materials as required by your program.

* Undergraduate, Master of Music, and Graduate Diploma voice applicants (only) do not need to submit recommendations and transcripts until they have been notified of the results of the prescreening review. If invited for a live voice audition, these materials are due by January 15. DMA and Artist Diploma Voice applicants should submit these and all other materials by December 1.

Applicants should note the following additional instructions as applicable:

Please note that although we strongly encourage you to apply online, you may instead download and print a paper application from the NEC website and mail it in with the supporting materials required to complete your application. The downloadable Fall 2008 application is available here.

Please choose only one method of application.

If you choose to download and mail your application, additional required materials (letters of recommendation, preliminary audition tape (if required), official transcripts, standardized test scores, and any other supporting materials required by your program) may be submitted under separate cover. Mailed applications must be postmarked by December 1, when all supporting materials are also due.

All required materials should be mailed to:
