  David Charney ’69 recently appeared as a harpsichord soloist with the American Balalaika Symphony Orchestra of Alexandria, Va. He performed Bach’s Keyboard Concerto, BMV 1054 to an orchestral accompaniment of Russian balalaikas and domras instead of the usual string section. Mr. Charney is also 1st chair tenor domra player in the orchestra. 8/21/08
Cymbalisms - A Complete Guide for the Orchestral Cymbal Player

BSO percussionist Frank Epstein ’69 M.M. saw the release of his book, Cymbalisms: A Complete Guide For the Orchestral Cymbal Player. The book features valuable insights on the world of orchestral cymbal playing, and is designed to assist the student percussionist in developing his/her sound and technique. In the book, Frank shares his firsthand experience as a performer in the BSO. Frank currently chairs NEC’s brass and percussion faculty. 1/12/08
