Bill Saxton '73

Bill Saxton ’73 has been an active tenor saxophonist who has toured around the world, working with such jazz greats as Clifford Jordan, Charlie Persip, and Tito Puente among others.  He is an educator at the New School of Social Research, and is a youth music instructor for a music program that is sponsored by the New York City Housing Authority.  His musical roots remain in Harlem, where he currently resides. 1/12/08

Will Pencke ’73 writes that he freelanced in Boston, New York and Mexico for 6 years after graduating from NEC, before moving to Germany, where he substituted for 2 years, then joined the Heidelberg orchestra as 4th/2nd hornist. Pencke has spent much of his time over the past twenty years relearning his instrument as a result of multiple sclerosis. He relearned the French horn for right-handed play as well as a new embouchure and devised a new hearing aid to counteract a hearing dysfunction. In 2005 he suffered facial paralysis and had to stop playing. He has since retired and gladly invites correspondence with classmates and friends. 7/3/07
