Don Byron ’84 has been appointed a Martin Luther King Jr. Visiting Professor at MIT, a position he will take in 2007. He is currently a visiting professor at the State University of New York, Albany, where he teaches theory, saxophone, improvisation, and composition. Don is currently writing a chamber opera based on Laura Z. Hobson’s 1946 novel, Gentleman’s Agreement. He currently lives in the Bronx, N.Y. 1/13/08 |

Neil Leonard ’84, ’00 M.M. had his piece, “Dreaming of an Island,” premiered by the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. The piece employs the use of electronics and interactive video. Neil lives in Brookline, Mass. 1/13/08 |

Jazz pianist, vocalist, and composer Rick DellaRatta ’84, ’86 M.M. was a featured performer in a Jazz for Peace fundraiser event in September 2007. Rick resides in New York, N.Y. 11/20/07 |

Clarinetist Larry Hughes '84 M.M. appeared on a recent CD release by accordionist Nick Ariondo. Larry currently resides in Pasedena, Calif. 9/18/07 |

Beth MacLeod ’84, a mezzo-soprano, has been named the new Artistic Director of Cape Cod Opera as of January 2006. She is currently Director of South Shore Conservatory’s Duxbury campus, as well as Artistic Director of Opera By the Bay. 7/3/07 |

David F. Oliver ’84 M.M. teaches organ and church music in the Department of Music at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, where he has worked since 1995. He also serves as the College Organist as the College Organist in the Martin Luther King International Chapel on the college campus that seats 2,500 people, and houses a 92 rank pipe organ. 7/3/07 |

Shirley Wong-Frentzel ’84 M.M. directed a multi-media event on the Celebration of Shakespeare at the Commmunity Music Center in San Francisco, where she is Harpsichordist-In-Residence. Thirty local musicians, poets, and artisans participated in selected Elizabethan songs, poems, and sonnets, with a focus on Shakespeare’s Songbook. 7/3/07 |
