François Bourassa ’87 M.M. received the prestigious Oscar Peterson Award from the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, in June 2007. He was given the award for his outstanding contributions to jazz in Canada. His quartet was invited to perform at the Spectrum in Montreal, and it also recently performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York. The ensemble will soon release their seventh album, Rasstones, on Effendi Records. François performed at the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival in Vermont, and recently performed in China as well. He lives in Montreal. 1/13/08 |
| Jeffrey Work ’87, ’95 A.D. has been selected as Principal Trumpet for the Oregon Symphony, which he began playing for in the 2006-2007 season. Jeffrey has been well known for his performances as soloist as well, and has premiered works for composers such as Eric Ewazen and James M. Stephenson. 7/3/07 |
