Antônio Borges-Cunha ’91 M.M. is an active musician in his native country of Brazil. He is currently a professor of music at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul in Proto Alegre. Antônio is also Principal Conductor of the Orquesta Sesi/ Fundarte and Artistic Director of the Orquestra de Câmara Theatro São Pedro. In January, 2008, he presented a lecture at the Musical Arts Center in L.A. and also visited NEC. 8/20/08 |

Daniel Ian Smith ’91 M.M. released a CD in September 2007 with his group, the New World Jazz Composers Octet. The name of the CD is No Place to Hide, and the features alumni Daryl Lowery ’81 on tenor sax, Bill Fanning ’00 M.M. on trumpet, and Keala Kaumeheiwa '97 (Thelonius Monk Institute) on bass. Linda Balliro ’91 has been selected to compete in the World Championships of Performing Arts in Hollywood, August 2007. Competitors are selected by scouts and are chosen from all around the world. Linda will be auditioning in opera, Broadway, classical, and contemporary acting. The competition is in its 11th year, and this is the first time it includes contestants from Boston. 7/3/07 |

Hanne Blank ’91 recently published her book Virgin: The Untouched History, which received a positive review in the New York Times. She currently resides in Baltimore, Md. 7/3/07 |

Fernando Brandão ’91 M.M. has recently released his new website, fernandobrandao.com and has had published his new play along book, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban Conception. The book comes with a recording that includes prestigious musicians in contemporary Brazilian music, including Leandro Braga, Adriano Giffoni, Xande Figueiredo, Zero, and Paulo Serio Santos, among others. 7/3/07 |

Chris Jentsch ’91 held a CD release concert at the Rock Theatre in New York City in June 2007 for his CD Brooklyn Suite, which was performed and recorded by the Jentsch Group Large. Members of the group include NEC alumni: JC Sanford ’97 M.M., ’01 D.M.A., John Mettam ’90 M.M., and Jim Whitney ’90, ’93 M.M. Chris’s piece, Brooklyn Suite, was commissioned by the American Composers Forum and premiered at Symphony Space in 2005. 7/3/07 |
