  Reiko Akasaka ’95 M.M., ’00 M.M. won the Gherardeschi Prize at the 2006 Italian Organ Music Academy-Shirakawa of International Music Festival in Japan.  As the winner, she toured and gave organ concerts at the Church of San Rocco and at the Cathedral of Pistoia in Italy. 1/13/08
  Elena Hammel ’95 recently performed a Carnegie Hall debut with her piano duo, Duo Scarbó.  The concert was held in the Weill Recital Hall on June 21, 2007.  Elena currently lives in St. John’s in Newfoundland, Canada. 1/13/08
"Beneath," Sara Holtzschue '95 M.M. Jazz composer Sara Holtzschue ’95 M.M. released a new CD of her original music, Beneath.  She lives in Brooklyn, N.Y. 2/19/08
  Tim Oesau ’95 will begin his second Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy at the University of Minnesota in the fall of 2007. He currently resides in St. Paul, Minn. 7/3/07
  Pianist and vocalist Joe Della Penna ’95 M.M. revived his show It’s a Most Unusual Day, which was performed at Cambridge’s March is Cabaret Month celebration.  A performance of this show was released on DVD, titled Joe Della Penna: It’s a Most Unusual Day. Joe has also recently released a new CD, Children Go Where I Send Thee, with his trio, featuring bassist Greg Loughman and drummer Brooke Sofferman ’97, ’99 M.M. 7/3/07
  Richard Begel ’95 M.M. has released a third edition of his book, A Modern Guide for Trombonists and Other Musicians. He has also been busy performing solo recitals and updating articles that he has posts online. Richard resides in Dayton, OH. Begel is currently with the Dayton Philharmonic. He has also subbed for the Cincinnati Symphony. 7/3/07
  Mei-Ann Chen ’95, ’98 M.M. is this year’s recipient of the American Symphony League Conducting Fellowship. She will be moving to Atlanta to work with the Atlantic Symphony during her fellowship. Chen has been the conductor and musical director of the Portland Youth Orchestra, as well as the Assistant Conductor of the Oregon Symphony from 2003–2005. Chen has worked with many other orchestras as well, and was the first woman to win the international Malko Competition for Conductors in its 40-year history. 7/3/07
Jazz vocalist Kristin Lomholt '95 M.M. recently released the CD Spell. Lomholt invites listeners to spend an evening with her CD, with mesmerizing jazz rhythms seamlessly interwoven with a superlative vocal talent. 4/10/07
  Trombonist Richard Begel '95 M.M. is currently with the Dayton Philharmonic in Dayton, Ohio. He has also subbed for the Cincinnati Symphony. 3/14/07
  Journeys, the 2005 CD from Jonathan Dimond '95 G.D., was released in May in Brisbane, Australia. The CD is an eclectic mix of jazz, fusion and world music and features Dimond's compositions dating from the time of his departure from Australia in 2002, through the following three years.
