Muysic by Angela Gosse '96 Trumpeter Angela Gosse ’96 performed a recital with organist Claudia Dumschat at the Church of the Transfiguration in New York, N.Y.  They performed pieces from 18th Century Italy, including works by Aldrovandini, Martini, and Romanino. Angela lives in New York City.  1/13/08
Sarah Cullins '96 Sarah Cullins ’96 has been living in Bogota, Colombia for the last four years, where she is the head and founder of the voice department at the Universidad Central. Four of her students recently won the Opera al Parque competition in Bogota and are active in opera and zarzuela productions.  Sarah continues to sing annually with the Vermont Mozart Festival and this past summer participated in the Young Artist Program of the Caramoor Music Festival as the cover for Linda di Chamounix.  In Colombia, Sarah has sung with the Opera de Colombia, the Orquesta Filarmonica de Bogota, and the opera company in Medellin. 1/13/08
  Jason Hunter ’96 M.M. and Jennifer Hunter ’97 M.M. recently had a child, Serena Claire Hunter, who was born on July 18, 2007.  They and their older daughter, Maya, live in Kincardine, Ontario. 1/13/08
Demetrius Spaneas '96 M.M. Since September 2007, Demetrius Spaneas ’96 M.M. began touring Europe and Asia, where he is presenting solo concerts, having premieres of his concert and film works, and guest lecturing for the year.  He is also participating in numerous music and film festivals throughout Eurasia.  His itinerary includes Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltics, the Balkans, Russia, and Western and Central Asia. He is documenting his experiences on his weblog.  Demetrius now lives in St. Petersburg, Russia. 1/13/08
Daniel Felsenfeld '96 M.M., '97 G.D., '01 D.M.A., has published two books, Copland and Ives and Barber and Britten with Amadeus Press. Felsenfeld appeared on WNYC's SOUNDCHECK program with John Schaefer to discuss Copland and Ives. Felsenfeld received a 2007 Outstanding Alumni Award, and is writing operas that have been workshopped in places like The Kitchen and New York City Opera’s influential VOX program. In October 2007, Felsenfeld workshopped The Bloody Chamber (in photo), based on Angela Carter's retelling of the Bluebeard story, with American Opera Projects,
where a blog, hosted by AOP, allows him to
exchange ideas with singers as he continues to
refine his music. One of his orchestral works will be performed at NEC on February 13, courtesy of John Page and the NEC Sinfonietta. 1/3/08
Ted Atkatz ’96 reports that he has recently left the Chicago Symphony to pursue a teaching position at DePaul University and his original music project, NYCO. In NYCO, Ted sings and plays keyboards and guitar. The group has released one album, Two, and they are currently at work on another album. Ted accepted the Distinguished Alumni Award from Boston University School of Music this year. He resides in Chicago. 7/3/07
Saxophonist Demetrius Spaneas '96 M.M. is about to release his second CD entitled From a Far-Off World on Capstone Records. He is in the process of recording a jazz/R&B CD with vocalist Marcia Wane. Spaneas is performing with the Funk Brothers, Motown's famous rhythm section, in their east coast performances. He is currently on the faculty of Northeastern University and on NEC's Prep and Continuing Education faculty. 3/14/07
