NEC’s Collaborative Piano faculty aims to train pianists in the art of partnering singers and instrumentalists at a professional level. Recognizing that the art of collaboration is distinctly different from the art of solo piano performance, the program gives pianists an extensive grounding in vocal and instrumental collaborative repertoire; vocal and instrumental ensemble techniques; diction (English, French, German, Italian); and techniques of vocal coaching (song and opera).

As a student, you will work with members of the NEC collaborative piano faculty, as well as distinguished faculty from other departments such as pianist Patricia Zander.

Upon admission to the program you will be awarded an Assistantship. Besides assisting you in paying your tuition, it also means that your studio work is constantly put into practice as an accompanist in the classroom, studio, and in masterclasses. Furthermore, you have the opportunity to work professionally as a paid accompanist for student recitals, as well as for any number of off-campus concerts and events.
