As a student in the horn program, you will have performance opportunities to work in large and small ensembles such as the NEC Wind Ensemble and the NEC Jordan Winds, as well as three full orchestras, which perform throughout the calendar year in venues such as NEC’s own Jordan Hall. You will also attend weekly one-on-one private lessons with distinguished faculty. The fall 2003 semester will feature horn classes that provide players with the opportunity to play solo and chamber repertoire with piano accompaniment. Besides studio work and regular performance opportunities, course work in music history and theory will help develop the growth of your depth and understanding of performance repertoire. The liberal arts curriculum is an opportunity to study major academic disciplines as well as cultural, social, intellectual, and political contexts for music. Upcoming horn events at NEC: Daniel Katzen, Jonathan Menkis, Richard Sebring, and Jay Wadenpful of the horn faculty are members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. James Sommerville is the principal.
