NEC’s brass faculty is drawn almost exclusively from the neighboring Boston Symphony Orchestra, offering students the opportunity to study with professional musicians who are actively creating music, and who are living and working as successful musicians.

As a student in the trombone program, you will have performance opportunities to work in large and small ensembles such as the NEC Wind Ensemble and the NEC Jordan Winds, as well three full orchestras, which perform throughout the calendar year in venues such as NEC’s own Jordan Hall. You will also attend weekly one-on-one private lessons with distinguished faculty. Fall 2003 offers a new trombone class with performance opportunities throughout the year, including the annual concert at Symphony Hall for the Boston Symphony Orchestra Open House.

Course work in music history and theory will help give depth and understanding to your performance repertoire. The liberal arts curriculum is an opportunity to study major academic disciplines as well as cultural, social, intellectual, and political contexts for music.
