Thomas Handel is active as a solo organist, accompanist, theorist,
musicologist and music administrator. He has performed throughout
the United States and has given solo organ recitals for the American
Guild of Organists and the Organ Historical Society. Recordings
include solo organ works of Bach and d'Aquin with the Boston
Cecilia and Duruflé's Requiem and Bernstein's Chichester
Psalms with the Phillips Exeter Academy Concert Choir. He is
a noted interpreter and scholar of the music of Olivier Messiaen
and has given complete performances of the composer's organ works
and lectured on the composer throughout the United States and
Europe. He has held prestigious organists positions throughout
New England, including First and Second Church and King's Chapel
in Boston and Phillips Exeter Academy. Handel was recently appointed
Minister of Music at Church of the Covenant in Boston.
B.M. cum laude in organ performance, Boston University;
M.M., D.M.A. in organ performance, NEC. Organ studies with
Max Miller, Yuko Hayashi, William Porter; conducting studies
with Thomas Dunn, Donald Teeters, Gerald Weale. Recordings
on Newport Classics, Phillips Academy.
