Resident Conductor, NEC Orchestras

Conductor John Page is Resident Conductor for the College, where he leads the NEC Sinfonietta and prepares and conducts concerts with the other orchestras on occasion. He was also active with NEC's Preparatory School through spring 2007 as director of the NEC Youth Chorale. Page is assistant conductor for the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, following two successive appointments as a BPO Zander Fellow. Page has conducted the Youth Orchestra of the Americas, the City of Derry Orchestra, the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra, the Irish Film Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. He has also conducted operas including Cavalli's Erismena, Toshio Hosokawa's Vision of Lear, and Ullmann's The Emperor of Atlantis, for which he received the "Opera of the Year" award from the Irish Theatre Awards. From 2001 to 2003, Page was artistic director of the Portsmouth Festivities, a celebration of art, music and culture. His recording of the PBS show "Celtic Women" with the Irish Film Orchestra has gone platinum.
