December 2007 Admission applicants must complete and return the 2008-2009 NEC Application for Financial Assistance. The priority deadline for new students is December 1, 2007.

February 1, 2008

Admission applicants must complete the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have New England Conservatory included as a recipient of the processing results. Be sure to include NEC’s Title IV code, 002194, on the school section of the FAFSA. NEC will not receive your processed FAFSA unless this code is included.

Returning students must complete and return their 2008-2009 NEC Application for Financial Assistance by February 1st. Returning students must submit their processed FAFSA to the Financial Aid Office by February 1st.

March/April 2008

Admission applicants who have completed the NEC Financial Aid Application and the 2008-2009 FAFSA will receive their financial aid award notification packets. If needed, the Financial Aid Office will also request additional information from students or documentation that needs to be completed. The Financial Aid Office asks students to respond quickly to all requests for additional information.

May 2008

New students must return their signed award notification letters to the Financial Aid Office. Returning students who are required to submit additional information or documentation to the Financial Aid Office will receive such requests in writing. The Financial Aid Office asks students to submit all documents/information requested of them within ten (10) business days to ensure prompt processing.

June 2008

Returning students who have completed the NEC Financial Aid application and the 2008-2009 FAFSA will receive their financial aid award notification packets.

July 2008

New students who have been awarded and have accepted Federal Stafford Loans will receive a letter from Sallie Mae requesting that they complete their Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note online with Sallie Mae. Returning students who have borrowed federal loan funds in prior years at NEC will not have to complete loan packet information. Parents who wish to borrow funds through the Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) program must complete their application by July 30th.

August 2008

Any student who is a first-time borrower of a Federal Stafford Loan will be required to attend the Entrance Counseling Session offered during Fall Orientation.
