FAQs: Financial Aid QuestionsApplying | Application Deadlines | Tuition and Fees Do you have questions? Guess what? You're not alone! Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions regarding the financial aid application process: If my parents are divorced, whose information do I report on the FAFSA? You should list the information of the parent who provides more than 50% of your support, typically the parent with whom you live. If this parent has remarried, you must also include their spouse's information. If my parents did not claim me on their tax return, am still I required to supply their information on the FAFSA? If you answered "yes" to any of the questions under Step 3 of the FAFSA, you are not required to supply parental information. If you answered "no" to all of the questions in Step 3, you must complete the parent section as well as the student section. If you feel that you have extenuating circumstances, please contact the Financial Aid Office promptly for information on a dependency override. What if my FAFSA does not reflect my current situation; for example, what if there's a change in my job status? The Financial Aid Office has an appeal form that you may request to update us on any changes to your financial/family information. What does ?selected for verification? mean? The Federal Government randomly selects financial aid applicants for verification. This means that you are required to provide copies of your tax forms and complete a verification worksheet and submit them to our office. Should I mail copies of my tax forms to the Financial Aid Office? Do not mail any tax information to our office unless you receive a written request from us to do so (for example, if you are selected for verification). |
