2009 Diveristy Immigration Visa ProgramOnline applications due Sunday, 12 noon, December 2nd, 2007You may qualify for participation in the 2009 Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, otherwise known as the "Green Card Lottery." Each year, the State Department makes available 55,000 diversity visas to people from countries with low rates of immigration to the US. The visas are split among 6 geographic regions. The countries listed below have sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the US over the past five years. Therefore, natives of these countries are INELIGIBLE to apply for the lottery. Brazil, Canada, China (mainland born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, Peru, Poland, Russia, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent terriotries, and Vietnam. Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan are eligible. A computer-generated random lottery drawing chooses selectees for these visas. Selected individuals will be notified by mail between May and July 2008 and will be provided with further instructions. Remember: 1. All applications must be made online. 2. All applications must be submitted by 12noon on Sunday, December 2nd, 2007 3. There is NO application fee 4. There is no need to hire an attorney or go through an outside agency.
