Hours:               Full-Time, Academic Year (44 weeks); Hours subject to change during school vacations and periods of minimal Concert Halls activity.

Monday, 8A-4P

Thursday & Friday, 8A-4P

Saturday, 7A-3P

Sunday, 8A-4P (flexible)                           

Salary:             Commensurate with experience

Reports to:       Production Manager

Status:              Non-Exempt


SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for executing set-ups for concerts, rehearsals and special events.
  • Work in consultation with Production Manager to acquire and organize rehearsal and concert set-ups for NEC ensembles, special events and renter organizations.
  • Lift and move heavy equipment such as harpsichords, pianos and percussion instruments throughout buildings.
  • Perform general maintenance and cleaning (as needed) in concert halls and associated areas.
  • Assist with educational support for classroom activities (chairs, tables, blackboards, etc).
  • Oversee work of other full-time stage assistants and/or student workers as needed.
  • Assist Production Manager with theatrical lighting requirements for NEC ensembles, special events and renter organizations (as needed) in concert facilities.
  • Other related duties and work shifts as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Awareness of all musical styles including orchestral, wind ensemble, chamber music, choral and jazz required.
  • Familiarity with musical instruments and equipment.
  • Theatrical lighting experience a plus.
  • Experience working with the artistic requirements of musicians.
  • Physical ability to set-up and move equipment and perform general maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and to supplied information.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Employee must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: works well with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor.
