Message from the Dean of Students

Welcome to the NEC College Web Site. Within these pages you will find an abundance of important information regarding Academic Advising and Registration, International Student Services and Student Life activities at NEC. You will also find important information about new initiatives in student services, curricular changes and special Conservatory events.

Please note that the time period to add and drop classes runs from January 15 to January 25. Students who wish to change their schedules should see their advisor during this time period.

The Partnership between NEC and the Boston Symphony Orchestra continues this semester. All current NEC students are entitled to a BSO College Card free of charge. This card will allow you to attend several concerts this season.

Here’s how it works:

Pick up your card at the BSO Box Office (301 Massachusetts Avenue). You will need to show your NEC ID and register for the program to receive your card. The designated concerts for the remainder of this season are as follows:

  • January 3
  • January 10
  • January 16
  • January 17
  • January 24
  • February 6
  • February 7
  • February 14
  • February 21
  • February 28
  • March 6
  • March 13
  • March 20
  • March 27
  • April 17
  • April 24
  • The BSO will send notification by e-mail if additional concerts become available.
  • Beginning at 9:30 on the day of the concert call 617-638-9478 to check on ticket availability.
  • One ticket per cardholder may be picked up on the day of the concert at the BSO box office between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. At least 100 tickets are reserved for BSO College Cardholders. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Only one card per NEC student will be issued.
  • Lost or stolen cards cannot be replaced.

We hope that you enjoy this exciting benefit. Please contact the Office of Student Services (2nd floor - St. Botolph building) with any questions. Information on BSO programs may be found at www.bso.org.

Sincerely,

Thomas Handel

Dean of Students
