NEC Summer School: Institutes and Intensives

From the Heart of Chamber Music

Thursday, July 24-Sunday, July 27, 2008
A chamber music coaching workshop/seminar for coaches and string players
Gillian Rogell, artistic director & seminar leader
The Jupiter String Quartet
Dr. Jeffrey Goldberg, pianist and coach

This unique intensive chamber music weekend will enrich both coaches and players.

Coaches: You will meet with Gillian Rogell, the creator of the DVD At the Heart of Chamber Music, in a seminar/master class format combining discussion, demonstration, and hands-on coaching experience.  You'll return home with new ideas and techniques.

Ensembles: You will be coached by members of the dynamic Jupiter String Quartet, in residence Saturday and Sunday.  You will play in master classes with Gillian Rogell and coaching seminar members, and be coached by Dr. Goldberg on Friday. Pre-established groups are preferred, but individuals are welcome also. You will leave with a deeper understanding of how to connect to the music and to other voices and you will play better technically too!

For all: Other activities include optional late afternoon yoga classes and optional evening chamber music jams. (Coaches, bring your instruments!)
