Institutes | College/Adult Courses | For Young Performers | General Information NEC Summer School: Institutes and IntensivesSummer Metropolitan Flute Festival OrchestraPaige Dashner Long, director The Summer Metropolitan Flute Festival Orchestra is a unique ensemble opportunity for students and teachers at the intermediate and advanced levels. The weekend combines large ensemble and smaller select advanced ensemble rehearsals, concluding with a final concert at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall on Sunday, July 27. Teachers are invited to participate with students in the large flute ensemble; they will be featured in the advanced select ensemble. We welcome their studio participation. In addition, university and conservatory music majors will be featured during one selection. Director Paige Long will bring her unique flute collection, including her Kotato double contrabass flute, and will select flutists to use them during this weekend. Music will be mailed to participants prior to the first rehearsal. The advanced select ensemble will be chosen and part assignments will be based on consideration of the following:

Application: Before July 14: send audition tapes and letters to Paige Long, PO Box 1436, 813 North Flagler Ave, Flagler Beach, FL 32136-1436. July 14 and later: send materials to NEC (Summer School, New England Conservatory, 290 Huntington Avenue, Boston MA 02115). Participants will be assigned parts and considered for the advanced select ensemble during the first evening of the festival.
