Maria Benotti
Violin, Sonata Duo Class, Chamber Music

Violinist Maria Benotti has taught violin, sonata duo class and chamber music at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School since 1977. She founded Music at Eden's Edge and has been Artistic Director of the North Shore's regional resident chamber ensemble since 1982, offering a summer series of chamber concerts as well as public school and senior outreach concerts. In addition, she is a founding member of the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston and performs on Baroque violin frequently with the Handel and Haydn Society Orchestra. She has played numerous recitals and chamber music concerts throughout New England, including concerts in Jordan Hall, the Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival, the St. John's Concert Series, the Monadnock Festival and the Music at Noon Series at Northeastern University. She studied violin with Eric Rosenblith, Dorothy DeLay, Masuko Ushioda, and Valeria Kuchment. She studied with Gunter Pichler as a Special Student at the Hochschule fur Musik in Vienna, and coached in chamber music with Rudolph Kolisch and David Wells. Benotti graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Music from Oberlin College and received Master of Music degrees in Violin Performance from both the Catholic University of America and the New England Conservatory of Music.
