A violist, Elisabeth Christensen earned her A.B. in Music from Stanford University and an M.M. in viola performance from NEC in 1998 where she studied with Marcus Thompson and James Dunham. She comes to NEC after working for five years as Executive Director of the Crowden Center for Music in the Community in Berkeley, CA. In that position, she developed a strong community-based music education program for children and adults. She also taught on the faculty of the UC Berkeley Young Musicians Program, maintained a private teaching studio, and was active as a freelance violist in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a student at NEC, Elisabeth managed the Preparatory School Youth Symphony Orchestra for two years.
