B.M. with highest honors (Music College at Moscow State Conservatory), M.M. with highest honors (Moscow State Conservatory); prize winner of the All-Union Composer’s Competition, and festival participant (Moscow); instructor in composition, music theory, ear-training and music history (Moscow); author of numerous articles and of the book Perfect Pitch for You; currently presents musical radio programs for WMNB (Russian-American Broadcasting Co.); compositions performed in Russia and Boston. Current faculty at Berklee College of Music, Composition Department. Many of Alla Cohen's composition students are prize-winners at the prestigious national and international Composers' Competitions, including ASCAP Morton Gould Award and National MTNA Competitions. Recipient of the ASCAP Award to distinguished ASCAP member for educating, mentoring, and inspiring young students to become composers of tomorrow.
