Roberto Boli

A Venetian pianist Roberto Poli began his musical studies at age twelve under Giorgio Vianello, a pupil of Ferruccio Busoni's disciple Gino Tagliapietra. He later graduated Summa cum Laude in Piano Performance and Chamber Music from the Venice Conservatory in 1993, and followed up with studies under Phillipe Cassard, Alexander Lonquich, Boris Petrushansky and chamber music with Bruno Giuranna and Roni Rogoff. In 1998, Poli moved to Boston and earned a Masters Degree with distinction and academic honors and the prestigious Artist Diploma at the New England Conservatory of Music, where he was a student of Russell Sherman.

Roberto Poli has performed as a soloist and chamber musician, as well as harpsichordist and conductor, at major venues in Japan, Korea, Canada, Italy, Ireland, Belgium, and throughout the US including NEC's Jordan Hall and Gardner Museum in Boston, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Trinity Church in New York City, Sala Baldini in Rome, The Ravinia Festival in Chicago, Izumi Hall in Osaka, the Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary, the International Center for the Arts in Seoul among many others. His performances have been heard on major radio stations in the United States, Italy, and Korea. As a chamber musician, Poli has performed with the Trio di Venezia, the Monet Ensemble, cellists Sarah Carter and Daniel Lee, soprano Elizabeth Keusch, and, more recently, with the Chameleon Arts Ensemble of Boston.

Poli is an eclectic performer, sporting a repertoire that extends from the Renaissance keyboard of English, French, and Flemish masters to contemporary works by Vine, Helps, Kirchner, Gubaidulina and Schnittke. His vast chamber music repertoire includes the complete chamber works with piano of Brahms, Schumann, Chopin, and Fauré.

His debut recording Shall we dance... was released on the Americus Records label, featuring works by Strauss, Scriabin, Byrd, Gibbons, Chopin, Helps and Ravel. A second release features an all-Chopin program.

Poli currently resides in Boston and is on the faculty at the New England Conservatory of Music's Preparatory School and the Rivers Music School (Weston, Mass.), where he is the Artist in Residence. He also presents masterclasses and lectures across the country.
